Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information DealsSpy ("DealsSpy", "we", "us" or "our") collects when you use DealsSpy.com, our deal alerts and related services (the "Service"), how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) and other US state privacy laws. DealsSpy does not require an account: you can browse, save deals and vote without giving us your name.

  1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Information you give us.
When you email us (for example with a question, a deal tip, a correction or a privacy request), we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write.

Device and usage information.
When you visit, our servers and service providers automatically receive your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language, referring page, the pages you view, the deals and links you click, and the date and time of each request. We may derive your approximate location (city or state) from your IP address. We do not collect precise location.

Cookies, local storage and similar technologies.
We use a small number of first-party cookies: ds_vp (your anonymous voter pass, up to 90 days), ds_optout (your opt-out choice, 1 year), ds_beta (if you opt into test features, 1 year) and ds_fs (a Deal Finder session, 1 day). Your browser's local storage keeps your theme, saved deals and similar settings on your device. Our analytics and advertising partners may also set their own cookies, pixels or similar technologies (see section 3). You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may then not work.

For you and Your list (stored on your device).
Recently viewed deals, the stores, categories, brands and tags you follow, the times of your visits and a small profile of the kinds of deals you open are kept in your browser's local storage on your device, not on our servers and not in an account. When you open For you or the home page, your browser sends this information with that request so our server can rank deals for you; the server uses it for that request only and does not store it. You can turn this off with "Personalize using my activity" or remove it with "Clear my history" in Your list, or by clearing your browser's site data.

Spy check (deal votes).
You can rate deals (Hot or Meh) and say whether a deal worked without signing in. The first time you vote, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person; we then set the ds_vp cookie holding a random voter ID, kept for up to 90 days, so each device has one vote per deal. With each vote we store the voter ID, your choice and reason, the time, and a one-way hash of your network address used only to stop vote stuffing; that hash is deleted after 30 days. Votes are shown only as totals and are never linked to your name. Your browser also remembers your own votes in local storage so the buttons show them.

  1. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We use the information above to:

  • run the Service, show deals and remember your settings;
  • count votes and clicks, and understand which deals and pages are useful;
  • measure and improve the Service, and fix problems;
  • show ads, if we run them, and measure their performance (see section 3);
  • track affiliate referrals so stores can pay us commissions;
  • prevent fraud, spam, vote stuffing, click fraud and other abuse, and keep the Service secure;
  • answer your messages and requests; and
  • comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Use.
  1. ANALYTICS, ADVERTISING AND AFFILIATE TRACKING

Google Analytics.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Service. Google collects information such as your IP address, device details, pages viewed and how you interact with them, using cookies and similar technologies. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising.
If we show ads, we use Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized ads in Google ad settings or through the Digital Advertising Alliance. If you opt out on Your Privacy Choices, or your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we ask Google for non-personalized ads only.

Affiliate links.
When you click a deal, we send you to the store, often through an affiliate link from the store's own program (such as Amazon Associates) or an affiliate network. The store or network may set cookies or use similar technology to record that your visit came from DealsSpy, so we can be paid a commission if you buy. We do not receive your payment details. Stores and networks may give us reports about purchases made through our links (for example the products and order amounts), which we use to get paid and measure performance. What the store collects is covered by its own privacy policy.

  1. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only:

  • with service providers that host, secure and deliver the Service for us (for example our hosting, storage and content-delivery providers, and Cloudflare for security and bot protection), under contracts that limit their use of it;
  • with analytics and advertising partners as described in section 3;
  • with stores and affiliate networks when you follow an affiliate link;
  • for legal reasons, when we believe it is required by law, subpoena or court order, or needed to protect the rights, safety or property of DealsSpy, our users or others;
  • in a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy; and
  • with your consent or at your direction.

We may share information that has been aggregated or de-identified so it can no longer reasonably identify you.

  1. "SALE" AND "SHARING" UNDER CALIFORNIA LAW, AND YOUR RIGHT TO OPT OUT

Under the CCPA, allowing analytics and advertising partners such as Google to collect information through cookies on our site for cross-context behavioral advertising, or for their own purposes, may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. In the last 12 months the categories involved were identifiers (such as IP address and cookie IDs), internet or other electronic network activity (such as pages viewed and interactions) and inferences drawn from them, and approximate location derived from IP address. You have the right to opt out of this. To opt out, use Your Privacy Choices or turn on Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser; we honor GPC as a valid opt-out request for that browser. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CCPA, and we do not use personal information to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

  1. YOUR US STATE PRIVACY RIGHTS

California residents.
Subject to exceptions in the law, you have the right to: know what personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the purposes and the categories of third parties we disclose it to; get a copy of it; ask us to delete it; ask us to correct inaccurate information; opt out of its sale or sharing; and not be discriminated against for using any of these rights. The categories of information we collect, their sources and purposes are described in sections 1 to 4. We keep each category only as long as described in section 9.

Residents of other states.
Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Delaware, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, Minnesota, Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky, Rhode Island and other states with consumer privacy laws may have similar rights, depending on the state: to confirm whether we process your personal information and access it; to correct it; to delete it; to get a portable copy; and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal information and profiling for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. You can opt out of targeted advertising and sale on Your Privacy Choices or with GPC.

How to make a request.
Email privacy@dealsspy.com and tell us your state and what you would like us to do. Because we do not have accounts, we may ask for information that lets us find the data about you, such as the email address you wrote to us from, and we may need to verify your request before acting on it. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your written permission, and we may ask you to confirm it. We will respond within the time the law requires (usually 45 days, which may be extended where allowed). We will not charge you or treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Appeals.
If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with "Appeal" in the subject line. We will tell you the result of your appeal and the reasons for it. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the attorney general of your state.

  1. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The Service is for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email privacy@dealsspy.com and we will delete it.

  1. DO NOT TRACK

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no agreed standard for it, we do not respond to it. We do honor Global Privacy Control, as described in section 5.

  1. DATA RETENTION

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as the law requires. Server logs and security records are kept for a limited period for troubleshooting and abuse prevention. Vote network hashes are deleted after 30 days, and voter passes expire after 90 days. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to answer them and for our records. Information kept in your browser stays there until you clear it.

  1. SECURITY

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

  1. OTHER WEBSITES

The Service links to stores, social networks and other websites that we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, which we encourage you to read.

  1. VISITORS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES

The Service is intended for people in the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.

  1. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed. If we make material changes, we will give notice on the Service before they take effect.
